The annual scholarship night for the Knoxville Community School District will take place tonight, with the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation giving out $127,000 dollars for secondary education.

96 current Knoxville High School grads will receive scholarships worth $52,000, and 95 past graduates from the classes of 2015, 2016, and 2017 receiving $75,000. Curt Froyan with the Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation tells KNIA/KRLS News the students receive the scholarships, but it means more than just the money because the students realize just how much the community supports them and it’s a big moment in their life. The foundation requires thank you letters be written from all scholarship recipients, and those letters include heartfelt stories and often include a desire to start their own scholarship one day. The Knoxville Panther Scholarship Foundation is now in its 15th year, and has given out over $945,000. The scholarship night event will start at 7pm at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
