Today is Memorial Day, a day on which those who died in active military service are remembered, and will be celebrated in Knoxville with several different events.

The Avenue of Flags was erected on Friday, and over 250 flags will stay up through tomorrow afternoon. KNX Fitness is hosting the 4th annual Memorial Day Murph and Barbecue, which is running a mile, doing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and running another mile. The event begins at 9am with an invocation from the VFW and food and drink following the workout. The American Legion Post 632, located in Melcher-Dallas, will conduct its annual Memorial Day Honor Guard services at nine different locations around the area with everyone invited to attend.
