While it feels more like summer now, the spring sports teams of Pella are continuing their success into the playoffs.

On Saturday, the Pella boys soccer team advanced to state for the 5th time in school history with a 2-1 win over Fairfield. They begin the state tournament this Thursday at 2:30 p.m. against Perry at the Field 9 of the Cownie Sports Complex in Des Moines.

This week, the Lady Dutch tennis team is in the final four of the Class 1A state playoffs, competing against Cedar Rapids Xavier Saturday. Junior Brooke Jorgensen qualified as an individual and is the No. 2 overall seed in the 1A Singles Tournament Wednesday, and the doubles pair of Cecily Johnson and Bronwyn Metcalf are the No. 3 seed in the doubles tournament, which also starts on Wednesday.

Golfer Lauren Van Wyk will participate in the Girls 3A State Meet as an individual Tuesday and Wednesday for the second year in a row, while boys golfer Luke Galeazzi finished in a tie for 25th place among individuals in the boys state meet last week.

This all comes after Avery Van Zee won an individual state championship for the Dutch at state track, the Lady Dutch track and field team won a team title, and Emily Vos won an individual championship for the girls.

The Pella Lady Dutch and Pella Christian girls soccer teams begin the playoffs Tuesday, with Pella hosting Grinnell and Pella Christian traveling to Bondurant-Farrar.
