Preparations for the 2018 10K Ruck for Vets event hosted by the Knoxville VFW are well underway.
Participants will carry 40 pounds of gear and can walk, run or jog with all proceeds from the event will going towards the VFW 3519 Relief Fund. Senior Vice Commander Michael Braman tells KNIA/KRLS News this event helps put what a soldier goes through on a daily basis into perspective because for soldiers on deployment you often have to go through this every day, so bringing this type of event towards civilians can help bring them closer to understanding why it’s important to help soldiers and veterans.
The relief fund is a fund set aside to help local veterans and their families in times of need. The event is scheduled for August 25th. Hear more about the Ruck for Vets event on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
