The 2018 Melcher-Dallas Coal Miners Day celebration will take place this Friday and Saturday.

First celebrated in 1975, the Coal Miners Day event is held annually to help keep the coal mining heritage alive in the community of Melcher-Dallas, while also serving as a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department. Coal Miners Day celebrations will begin on Friday evening with carnival rides and fireworks on the city square, while Saturday will have a parade, contests, and music. The event will also include different vendors, an inflatable carnival, kids games, live entertainment at the gazebo, and a fire department raffle drawing.
