Most of Marion County is no longer experiencing drought, however, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor, abnormally dry conditions remain in place.

According to the report, frequent thunderstorms in May and June have provided relief to a drought that developed last summer. At our KNIA/KRLS studios this month, approximately 3.4” of precipitation has fallen in Knoxville and 3.25” has dropped in downtown Pella. However, the 2.27” inches that fell in the Tulip City and 1.44” in Knoxville Thursday did not factor into this week’s report, and will be included in next week’s update.
