The Knoxville School Board has approved a grant for the Knoxville Community School District through the Community Eligibility Provision program that will provide a free breakfast and lunch to all kindergarten through eighth-grade students, regardless of family income status.

The grant will fund lunches for students attending West and Northstar Elementary Schools, as well as Knoxville Middle School, and will result in savings of about $60,000 per month for the district. The grant goes into effect at the start of the 2018-2019 school year. The Knoxville Food Youth Initiative is also providing free summer meals to all students regardless of income level.
