Lake levels are rapidly rising at Lake Red Rock due to flooding upstream on the Des Moines and Raccoon Rivers.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the water level at the lake is forecast to rise above 760 feet above sea level by early next week. Impacts include rural road closures near the lake. Park rangers have removed swimming lines and buoys at North Overlook and Whitebreast beaches as well.

Those using the lake for recreation are reminded to exercise caution, especially due to the possibility of debris being carried down the river and the additional depth of the open waters.
