In Pleasantville’s final long haul to Bedford as part of the Pride of Iowa Conference, the baseball and softball teams made the two plus hour trip a successful one sweeping the Bulldogs on Friday night.

The softball team did their damage early to coast to an 11-1 win in five innings. The Trojans plated six runs in the first and four more in the second to put the game out of reach. Freshmen were the story for the Mustangs, as Amber McKinney went 3-for-4 at the plate knocking in four runs and Faith Vanderhart tossed a three hitter in the circle en route to the win. The Trojans peppered eight hits across six batters. They are now 17-9 and get back on the road to Ankeny for a tournament today.

In the baseball game the Trojans also had a double-digit win, but in completely different fashion. Something you may never see again, the game was tied at 1-1 heading into extras when Pleasantville exploded for 11 runs in the eighth to win 12-1. The nightmare inning for the Bulldogs had 10 Trojan hits across 16 at-bats. Quintin Berglund led the offense going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs batted in. Grant Fouch continued the dominating Trojan pitching tossing a complete game four hitter to keep the Bedford offense at bay. Pleasantville improves to 17-8 and faces Iowa City Liberty at Principal Park in Des Moines on Monday.
