PCM came to Pella and knocked around the Little Dutch in an 11-0 win Tuesday, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The Mustangs came out of the gates leading Pella by four and never looked back, getting the leadoff baserunner on in each of the first five innings. PCM Skipper Jeff Lindsay tells KNIA/KRLS Sports it may have been their most complete effort of the season.

“Quite honestly, the way we played tonight, this is the way we — not just me, we, including the boys, expected to play all year,” he says. “This is the capability that this team does have.”

Pella’s defense spotted PCM with seven errors, and the Mustangs held the Dutch–who scored 49 runs in their last four games, to just five hits on offense. Assistant Coach Wade Van Vark credits PCM with taking full advantage of the miscues and lack of bats.

Trevor Bistline led the Mustangs on the mound with a complete game, five-hit shutout. Preston Van Wyk finished 2-for-4 with three runs, with Caleb Duinik and Noah Henkenius, each going three-for-five from the plate. Pella was led by a 2-for-3 effort from both Jaden Rolffs and Landon Vander Leest, with the former cranking out two doubles.

The 8-10 Mustangs are off until they host Baxter.

Pella, now 12-9, returns to conference action this evening, with both the baseball and softball teams welcoming DCG to town. Any youth baseball or softball player that shows up in uniform will get free admission and the chance to interact with the varsity teams during warmups and the starting lineups.
