While U.S. Census Bureau estimates show continued stagnation in the population numbers of area communities, the Pella Area Community and Economic Alliance has been working with the Pella City Council to grow the community.

Executive Director Karen Eischen tells KNIA/KRLS News with record-low unemployment and slight decline in residents, recruiting and retaining skilled employees remain a top priority for local businesses and industry.

Eischen says the PACE Alliance has been working closely with the Pella City Council to address the number one need for new residents — available housing.

Coupled with their efforts in supporting the currently-developing municipal internet utility and other key quality of life initiatives, Eischen is hopeful the increase in amenities will help bring and keep people living in the community, and in turn, attract more businesses and industry to the area.
