In a makeup of a rained out doubleheader from earlier this month, the Pella High baseball team completed a season sweep of Newton Saturday, beating the Cardinals 7-3 and 17-2 in four innings.

Game one was picked up in the second inning, as the first inning of play was completed on June 6th.  After Newton took the lead with a run in the second, Pella scored two of their own that inning and never trailed again.

In game two, the Little Dutch sent 13 batters to the plate in the first inning and scored 9 runs to take control.

On the day, Gabe Thomas was 6-7 with two doubles, six RBI and five runs scored.  Landon Vander Leest was 5-7 with three doubles, four runs and four RBI.

Ryan Mace and Tanner Dunsbergen got the pitching victories for the Little Dutch, who are now 12-8 on the season.  Up next is a doubleheader at Oskaloosa on Monday night.
