With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Norwalk’s Cooper Beving hit a hot shot to second base, where Pella’s Tanner Dunsbergen made the play to end the ballgame and hold off a Warrior rally in a 7-5 Little Dutch baseball victory.

After Norwalk scored an unearned run in the top of the first inning, Pella ripped off the next six runs to take command.  The Warriors made it 6-3 with a pair in the sixth, but Drew Hillman added some insurance with the first home run of his career.

Norwalk took advantage of a walk and two hitter batters, and added a pair of singles, to cut the gap to two in the seventh before the Dutch slammed the door.

Gabe Thomas was 3-3 at the plate for Pella with a triple, an RBI and a run scored.  Landon Vander Leest was 2-3 with two doubles, a run and two RBI, and Aaron Downs went 2-3 with a triple.

Vander Leest got the win on the mound for Pella, who improves to 3-5 on the season and 2-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.  Up next is a home doubleheader against Newton tomorrow night.

The softball team fell 12-4 to Norwalk.
