Three Class of 2018 Pella High School graduates competed among the best athletes in the Midwest over the weekend.

Emily Vos, Paighton Malek, and Kaeleigh DeWaard raced and threw at the Senior All-Star Spotlight Meet in Dubuque on Saturday as part of Team Iowa. The meet was held at the University of Dubuque and was a competition between selected track athletes from Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Vos won the 100 meter dash and anchored the 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams to top finishes as well. Four Pella athletes invited to attend were all part of the 2018 Class 3A State Champion Lady Dutch track and field team in May, with Vos earning an individual championship in the 200 meter dash.

Annika Pingel was invited but could not make it to the event. All four plan to compete in track and field when they head to college this fall, with Vos heading to UNI, Pingel going to Doane, DeWaard attending Central College, and Malek at Hawkeye Community College.
