After Pella’s bats got the early jump on the Eagles in game one, Pella Christian responded with their own fast start in game two of a split doubleheader, with the Lady Dutch taking the day game 7-2 and the Eagles winning the nightcap — heard live on 92.1 KRLS, by a 4-0 score.

In game one, the Lady Dutch knocked in five first inning runs and controlled the rest of the game behind the pitching of senior Kinzi Van Wyk. Head Coach Teresa Thompson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the girls in green and white came into the series confident, and it showed, but dropped off in the nightcap.

However, Pella Christian took advantage of defensive miscues to score twice in the beginning of game two, and beyond the combination of Cheyenne Collins and Danielle Vande Voort, who blanked the Lady Dutch and stranded eight of their baserunners. Head Coach Karen Harrill says Collins set the tone early and the rest of the defense rallied behind her.

Maddie Parks of Pella hit her second home run of the season, while Natalie Harrill collected three hits over the doubleheader and Amanda Harrill drove in two runs.

Pella heads to Oskaloosa for an invitational tournament tonight, while the Eagles hit the road Monday to Norwalk.
