The Pella Softball team toppled No. 5 in 3A Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 4-2 at home last night.

The Lady Dutch scored four times in the bottom of the 6th inning after trailing the entire game, following a two-run top of the first for the Rockets. Kinzi Van Wyk held EBF to two runs in seven innings of work. Maddie Parks, Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp, Destiny Brown, and Maddy Rempe all scored for Pella, while Van Dusseldorp, Brown, Ally Almond, and Elly Cairney all drove those tallies in.

Pella’s boys of summer traveled to Saydel to earn a non-conference win 11-6 as well. The Little Dutch ripped seven extra base hits out of 11 total on the evening. Jaden Rolffs went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and was a single short of the cycle, while Landon Vander Leest and Aaron Downs each went 2-for-3. Ben Akers earned his second win of the year, giving up one run in four innings.

Both teams return home for a single game against Oskaloosa — the 7-7 girls host the 11-2 Indians, while the 5-4 boys host the 7-4 Osky boys. Hear the softball game live on 92.1 KRLS, kniakrls.com, and the free KRLS mobile app, with pregame at approximately 7:15 p.m.
