It was a productive Friday night for the Pleasantville summer teams with both squads picking up Pride of Iowa Conference wins against Nodaway Valley including softball clinching the conference title.

On a hot and humid night, the Trojan girls put the hurt on the Wolverines winning 14-1 in four innings. Pleasantville wasted no time, as they pushed across three runs in the first and four more in the second to build a comfortable 7-0 lead. The final blow came in the fourth tacking on seven runs to lead to the short night. Makenzie McGriff led the offense going 3-for-3 with five runs knocked in and three runs scored. Freshman Faith Vanderhart got it done on both sides, hitting a home run offensively and picking up the win in the circle giving up just four hits and no earned runs. Pleasantville improves to 20-10 and will welcome Interstate 35 to town on Monday for a rain makeup game.

Another solid pitching performance propelled the baseball team to a 7-0 win over the Wolverines. Quintin Berglund went 4 1/3 innings of one hit ball to pick up the win on the bump. Colton Major and Brant Wilkins combined for the final 2 2/3 innings without any trouble giving up just one hit and six strikeouts. The Trojans had a 1-0 lead heading into the fifth before breaking the game open with a five spot in the inning. Cael Lester had the big blow with a two-run home run and Caleb Adreon knocked in two on a double. Both finished with a pair of hits to lead the offense. Pleasantville improves to 20-9 and will travel to PCM on Monday.
