The weather started to heat up yesterday and so did the Pleasantville bats, as both the baseball and softball teams uncorked on Pride of Iowa Conference foe Southwest Valley.

The softball team scored in every inning to down the Timberwolves 12-0 in four. Josie Sowers, Andie Sowers, and Sydnee McKinney each had two hits and two RBI to lead the offensive explosion. Faith Vanderhart went all four frames in the circle giving up just three hits and six strikeouts. The Trojans have feasted on conference competition improving their record to 9-1 in the Pride of Iowa and 13-8 overall. They will head to New Sharon for a tournament today.

After putting up just three runs combined in their last two games, the Trojan baseball squad more than made up for it in a 15-5 win. Pleasantville scored four in the first and six in the second to lead to the win in five innings. Cael Lester was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with one RBI and three runs scored. Gauge Van Haalen had a pair of hits with two RBI and two runs scored. Grant Fouch got the win on the mound throwing all five frames giving up five hits and two earned runs. The Trojans improve to 14-5 and will travel to Newton for a tournament today.
