The 2018 Marion County Fair came to an end Thursday, highlighted by the livestock auction.
FFA South Central District Vice President and 4H County Council Vice President Mckayla McGill donated the angus steer sale premium to the Holden Cancer Center for Melanoma Research. The steer was bought for $700 by Midtown Tire, with the Marion County Fair Board donating $1,000 and the Marion County Cattlemen’s Association donating $500 for a total of $2,200 for the steer. Marion County Fair Queen Megan Moore tells KNIA/KRLS News it’s bittersweet the 2018 fair has come to a close, and she wants to give a message to all of the 4H participants.
“The only showman you need to be is the one you were yesterday. Keep trying even if it’s hard, because that’s when you need to dig down deeper and push yourself with your animals. Your day will come when you achieve greatness, and I wish you the best of luck.”
Moore, and many of the other Marion County Fair participants, will now prepare to attend the Iowa State Fair August 9-20th.
