Today we begin the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories for the 2017-2018 school year at Central College with number ten.
Center fielder Sara Tallman, a sophomore from Pella, set the Central College softball record for most stolen bases in a season when she swiped her 38th base of the year on April 28th in Dubuque.
The mark had stood since 2000, when pinch runner Daniela Grob stole 37 bags for the Dutch.  Tallman stole a total of four bases that Saturday against the Spartans, getting to 41, and she finished the season with 47.  That mark was the fourth highest in Division III this spring.
Tallman is also chasing Grob for the career mark.  Grob had 114 from 1997-2000, and Tallman currently sits at 71 with two seasons left to play for the Dutch.
