The City of Knoxville is still looking for donations to fund a match grant provided by Wellmark for improvements to Young’s Park.
Knoxville City Manager Aaron Adams tells KNIA/KRLS News The Wellmark grant is for $100,000, and is a match grant meaning that the grant amount must be matched by the city, and half of that amount must come from outside sources not in the city budget, and those donations can be either monetarily or in-kind donations such as time worked on the park or donating materials or construction. Adams also said that the city has taken advantage of a Wellmark match grant before with the Competine Trail. The public match portion must be filled by August 24th for the city to receive the funds.
