Construction of the new tennis courts across from Knoxville High School is nearly completed.
The courts are the result of a partnership between the City of Knoxville and the Knoxville Community School District. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch tells KNIA/KRLS News the city wanted to repair or replace the old tennis courts which were in bad shape, but couldn’t find room in the budget to do so but fortunately the school district did, so all the city had to do was to provide the land and it worked out great for both parties, especially with the skate park now located at Young’s Park and the tennis courts now closer to the school.
Knoxville Superintendent Cassi Pearson also said that the courts are in close proximity to the Knoxville Rec Center, which will hopefully draw more interest to both students and adults interested in tennis.
