One game. That is what separates the Pleasantville softball team from a class 2A state appearance, as they travel to Des Moines Christian this evening for a regional final matchup.
The Trojans qualified for the regional final after Friday night’s 3-2 win over Pella Christian. Pleasantville has saved their best ball for the right time, as they have won 14 of their last 16 games to push their record to 22-10. A big reason for the Trojan success has been the play of Abby DeJoode in the circle with a 2.82 ERA in 114 innings of work this season. DeJoode will have her hands full against the Lions (21-6) as they have the fifth highest batting average in the state with .382. Des Moines Christian was last in action Friday upending Colfax-Mingo 8-4.
The chance to go to Fort Dodge gets started at 5:30 p.m tonight in Urbandale.
