Joe Steinkamp had an enjoyable first year in his transition from a long-time assistant of the Central College men’s basketball team to the head coach of the Dutch women’s program.
He says that it was nice to be the one standing on the sideline making the calls.
“It was a learning year of the game, the women’s game is different from the men’s game in some ways so I learned some things along the way with that.  But overall it was just a totally different team. Where we were as a program, we thought we did a really nice job as a coaching staff and as a basketball program just to grow the expectations of the program moving forward.”
The Dutch went 7-18 this past winter, but Steinkamp is optimistic about the future of the team and the opportunities for success down the road.
