As the PCM baseball team gears up for their postseason opener on Saturday they will have their junior centerfielder Preston Van Wyk leading the charge.
Van Wyk is fresh off a career day for the Mustangs, as Tuesday he went 5-for-5 with three RBI, four runs scored, and three stolen bases in a 14-4 win over Nevada. The junior has produced all season long and is near the top of many offensive categories in the Heart of Iowa Conference. Van Wyk has produced a .474 batting average that ranks third in the league, second in hits with 37, and the track star is fourth in stolen bases with 20. He has saved his best ball for the right time, as he finished the regular season on a 13 game hit streak.
Van Wyk and his teammates will start up their postseason journey Saturday when they travel to Colfax-Mingo for the first round of districts.
