The baseball season is officially a wrap for all Heart of Iowa Conference teams and PCM’s Preston Van Wyk finished in the top five in many offensive categories.
No one in the league had more knocks than Van Wyk collecting 44 hits on the year and his .489 batting average ranked second in the conference. The track star also showed off his speed on the base paths with 22 stolen bases to rank third. Van Wyk tells KNIA/KRLS Sports his one game at a time approach helped him keeps thing in perspective and have a clear mind when coming to the plate.
The junior helped the Mustangs to a 12-14 record and a trip to the district title game.
