Depth is the biggest key for Pella Christian volleyball this fall.
Head Coach John Evenhouse is entering his 22nd season at the helm of the program, and tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he has likely never had this many athletes who are game ready coming into a season than this fall.
“We are the deepest we have ever been,” he says. “I’ve got twelve players on the team, and all twelve of them can play. We don’t have the superstar–we lost Bekah Horstman who was an all-state hitter, but we’ve got a lot of kids who can hit, the setter [Emma Huisman] is great, and we should have a good year.”
He says it’s a realistic possibility that all the varsity players see the floor on a given night and compete with whoever is on the other side of the net. Pella Christian opens the volleyball season at the Bondurant Invitational on Saturday, August 25th.
