Serving and receiving has been an area of focus for the Pella Christian volleyball team in their preseason practices.
Head Coach John Evenhouse tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they are doing additional analytics to get their serving speed on par with the rest of the Little Hawkeye Conference in an attempt to close the competitive gap.
“We’re trying to serve the ball between 36 to 39 miles per hours,” he says, with the team using a radar gun to refine those skills. “It’s what other teams are doing to us, and if we start serving like that, we can do it in practice and learn how to handle those.”
He says the rest of the areas of the team have been solid, including setting, hitting, and defense, but good service and receiving will be the key in to giving them a shot at a deep postseason run. The Eagles season begins August 25th at Bondurant-Farrar.
