The Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau is sending a group of volunteers to the Iowa State Fair to showcase the Tulip City and the surrounding area.
Director Jill Vandevoort says they will once again have a booth at the Varied Industries Building, starting today. She says advertising the Tulip City and Marion County to fair-goers is one of the many ways they try to bolster the local tourism industry.
“The individual traveler is a big part of our tourism opportunities here in Pella,” Vandevoort says.
“Those are people that are so close that they can come anytime to our community, but most of them are outside of our county, so they are bringing bringing new dollars into our county.”
Vandevoort says they plan to distribute information about this year’s holiday festivities and next year’s Tulip Time celebration, as well as information about Lake Red Rock and other attractions in Marion County.
