The Pella FFA has had a successful start to the 2018 Iowa State Fair.
Paige Anderson (pictured above on the horse), 2016 Marion County Fair Queen, was Senior Cowgirl Queen runner up in the Cowgirl Queen Contest. Additionally, Shianne Votava took first place in FFA barrel racing, Sierra VanderWeerdt received 3rd place in FFA welding exhibits, Anderson took 4th place in FFA hunters hack, Camryn Norton advanced to the final drive in Ranch Pleasure and received a blue, and Anderson, Votava, and Norton received Blue in herdsmanship, and they received blues in all of their horse classes. Ella and Chandler Jahner received blues in their sheep classes, and were beat out by several sheep that they had lambed, raised, and sold to other FFA members as part of their entrepreneurship Supervised Agricultural Experience. Chandler, a 2017 Pella graduate, has been fullfing state FFA officer duties at the fair.
