If the Eagles volleyball team wants to get back to state, it might just be a matter of finding a few more wins in the regular season.
Head Coach John Evenhouse tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they’ve had teams capable of making it to the U.S. Cellular Center the last few years, but too many losses has led to tough brackets to get there.
“Last year, during the regular season we were 18-15, so you don’t get the high seed, and then in order to get to state, you wind up playing maybe one of the top four teams in the state,” he says. “So in the last two years we’ve lost in the substate game to teams that are very good–we were close, but not there.”
Pella Christian has also toned down some of their tournaments, after competing in the primarily Class 5A Ankeny tournament, they instead will go to Bondurant against 3A/4A schools, which will kick off their season this Saturday.
