First year Central College track and field coach Brandon Sturman got a one-year preview of life on campus prior to taking the job this summer.
His new wife, Dutch volleyball coach Jeanne Czipri, took over that position last fall, and Sturman spent time in Pella when he could to support his then-fiance.  Joining us for the first time last night on the Central College Radio Coaches Corner on KRLS, Sturman says that he liked what he saw.
“The number one thing that stood out to me was the commitment to the student athlete.  Giving them that big time experience at a really small school, and I think that’s what I really liked about it.  It kind of reminded me of my college experience as well.”
Sturman was a 2006 graduate of Valparaiso University in Indiana, where he played football.  He started his coaching career there as a graduate assistant, before moving to Aurora of Illinois, where he was an assistant for both football and track and field.  He eventually took over the track and field program as head coach in 2016 before moving to Pella this summer to take the same role at Central.
