Unemployment in Iowa is at an 18-year low, according to Iowa Workforce Development.
The state’s seasonably adjusted rate dropped to 2.6 percent in July. Most of the growth was attributed to the manufacturing industry, which grew by 1800 jobs, although retail continues to slide with statewide closures, with 3000 employees having to find new work.
The latest data for Marion County shows a 2.2% unemployment rate – a slight increase over June, with approximately 17,600 people working in the month of July.
