Professor of music at Central College Ian Moschenross will present a piano recital featuring classical piano music as well as a selection composed by a Central alumnus.
The concert will be held in Douwstra Auditorium at Central College at 8 p.m. this Friday. Moschenross joined the Central faculty in 2017. He is an active soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.
On the program:
– Beethoven’s Sonata in A-flat Major, Op 110
– Schuman’s Papillons, Op. 2
– Chopin’s Scherzo in C-sharp Minor
Moschenross joined the Central faculty in 2017.
In addition, the performance will feature a musical piece composed by recent Central alumnus Wyatt Rath ’18. Rath is now a vocal music teacher at West Sioux Community School District in Hawarden, Iowa. The concert is free and open to the public.
“People during this time of life might endure feelings of loneliness and confusion, or they just feel lost about who they are and who they want to be,” Rath says. “The composition is meant to illustrate such feelings with sections of unsettling tone clusters underneath a floating melody that first feels lost and later feels found.”
It will also be live-streamed. To watch, visit www.central.edu/fine-arts.
