A vice president for a Knoxville bank has received one of the state banking industry’s highest honors.
Leslie Miller from Iowa State Savings Bank has been chosen as the recipient of the James A. Leach Leadership Award, presented by the Iowa Bankers Association. She was named the recipient during the IBA’s annual convention on Tuesday in Johnston, Iowa.
Miller tells KNIA/KRLS News she’s thrilled to receive the award, which was presented based on the body of work she’s done for the bank, and for the industry in general.
“I helped start the Farm Financial Standards Task Force which developed farm financial standards guidelines that are used nationwide,” says Miller. “I worked with helping develop Iowa Women in Agriculture, working with the Iowa Ag Development, which also does the beginning farmer loans, and the Iowa Ag Finance Corporation.”
She was especially glad to receive the award named after former U.S. Representative Jim Leach, who is one of her favorite elected officials.
