Monday night’s Knoxville School Board meeting will convene outdoors – as the Board comes together to dedicate the new high school tennis courts.
The Joel Tonda Tennis Complex will be formally dedicated, and its namesake Knoxville Panthers tennis coach is expected to be on hand for the ceremony.
District Superintendent Cassi Pearson tells KNIA/KRLS News this is the end result of a joint effort with the City of Knoxville, and the courts are already being put to use.
“Our partnership with the city on this project has just gone so smoothly; I think a lot of people have already enjoyed playing on both the tennis courts and the basketball court. Just about daily it seems like you can drive by and see activity on there; and it’s going to be great for our community and the residents here,” Pearson says.
Since all the school board members will be in attendance, the ceremony will be part of a formal board meeting; it will start earlier than usual, at 5 p.m.
