Knoxville High School’s homecoming game is one week away, but events will be starting on Saturday evening and continue throughout the week.
It all starts with a showing of the movie “The Sandlot” at 8 p.m. Saturday night at the practice soccer field; the Class Cup competition begins in earnest with dress-up days all week long, and contests in dodgeball, volleyball and the annual Powderpuff flag football tournament between the four classes.
Ongoing throughout the week is the food drive; collection boxes will be set up, and each class will be competing to bring in the largest amount of food. It will all be good for points towards the overall Class Cup score.
Friday will feature the Homecoming parade at 3 p.m. and the 9th grade football game at 4:45; then the varsity will play Grinnell starting at 7:30.
The Homecoming dance will be in the high school commons on Saturday night at 8 p.m. All donated foods and half of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to Helping Hands.
