Former Knoxville High School tennis coach Joel Tonda says the facilities at the school’s new court named in his honor not only rival any in the state of Iowa, but are among the best he’s seen anywhere.
Monday night’s Knoxville School Board meeting was preceded by the dedication ceremony for the Joel Tonda Tennis Complex; school district and city officials joined forces last year to come up with a replacement for the old tennis courts, and the end result is a new tennis center with an adjacent basketball court.
During the regularly-scheduled board meeting, members approved a plan to buy two new video streaming units. The board authorized the purchase of the units at a cost of $9,500; one will go in the main gymnasium, and the other in the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
