UPDATE at 7:10 p.m.: Lightning struck a house at 1018 210th Place in Pella earlier this evening.
Flames were visible from an upper floor bedroom, and significant damage was reported in a bedroom next to the east-most point of the roof, where the lightning appeared to strike.
According to the Pella Fire Department, the homeowners were returning from an out-of-state trip when they saw flames shooting from the upper floor at approximately 5:10 p.m. Pella Rural Fire, Pella Police, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Marion County Emergency Management, and Pella Ambulance responded to the scene. No injuries were reported.
Marion County real estate records show the deed to the home is held by Robert and Phyllis Christiansen.
