A man from Bondurant is facing a charge of theft in Marion County, after he reportedly wrote a bad check to a local business.
Thirty-seven-year-old Matthew Hessel is charged with a felony count of second degree theft; the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says on December 27th of last year, he wrote a check for over $1,400 in merchandise.
The check contained a nonexistent driver’s license number; Hessel received the merchandise and deputies say he wouldn’t return the owner’s calls after it bounced.
Hessel had been in custody in Polk County on other charges.
