The Pella Police Department is looking to bolster the reserve officer staff.
Lt. Shane Cox tells KNIA/KRLS News reserves serve a variety of functions, including back-up to on-duty officers, security at events, and other functions and duties. Cox says many reserve officers have moved on to work full-time in law enforcement as well, including himself after he served with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office out of high school. Cox believes the reserves play a crucial role with police and aim to better their communities.
“A lot of my reserve officers that I have currently at the police department–they love the city of Pella, they love working for the community in this capacity,” He says. “People around town know them as a connection back to the police department.”
Qualified individuals can learn more about what it takes to be a reserve at an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 3rd at 5:30 p.m. in the Pella Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street. Applications are available in the main lobby of the department, with a submission deadline of October 19th.
