The Pella School Board held their annual organizational meeting Monday evening.
The board again elected Joan Corbin is the board president and Tim Tripp as vice president for the upcoming academic year, as well as reviewed the district’s financial position and the annual certified report for the 2017-18 fiscal year. Additionally, Director of K-12 Instruction Lowell Ernst showed a presentation about assessment goals, which showed the percentage of students proficient and above on the Iowa Assessments Reading test in grades 4-8 and 11 in 2017-2018 will have increased when compared to the IA Assessments Reading test in grades 3-7 and 10 in 2016-2017 from 87.63% to 88.35%, math dropped from 89.13% proficient to 88.11%, and the science score went down from 91.46% to 89.96%.
The 4-year graduation rate for 2017-2018 was listed by the state as 97.27%, compared to 91% statewide.
