Five couples who have been married for decades received the opportunity to renew their vows all over again.
The couples reside at Homestead of Knoxville Assisted Living Center, and they came together Friday in a joint ceremony. The couples have been together in marriages which have lasted anywhere from 64 to 72 years.
Among those re-tying the knot were Leonard and Betty Walters; they tell KNIA/KRLS News they were happy to take the opportunity to celebrate along with their friends and loved ones
“We really appreciate it,” says Mr. Walters. “At our 50th wedding anniversary we had 105 people at our home; and there’s going to be that or many more people here today, so I appreciate it – for everything they’ve done.”
Also taking part were Jim and Virginia Kidder, Mary and Bill Goff, Rena and Gerald Van Zante and Junior and Carolyn Nichols.
Pastor Bruce Reitveld from the Riverside Community Church presided over the ceremony.
