The National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center has issued their outlook for the upcoming winter.

According to their long term forecast, most of Iowa has a 33 percent chance of higher than average temperatures from December to February. Additionally, the center reports equal chances of above average, below average, or average precipitation in the region as well. According to 30 year climate data from 1981-2010, the average amount of snow in south central Iowa typically ranges from 24-28 inches annually, with typical daytime high temperatures in those months in the low-to-mid 30s.
