The semi-annual collection of old and expired prescription drugs will take place around our area and across the country on Saturday, October 27th.

The Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Drug Take Back Day encourages people to clean out their medicine cabinets and cupboards, bringing their unused prescription drugs to drop boxes for safe disposal.

The agency warns having unused prescription drugs around the house poses a risk; they could be used by people they aren’t intended for, leading to abuse or a dangerous medical reaction. A 2016 survey indicates 6.2 million Americans misused controlled prescription drugs; a majority of them were obtained from family and friends, often from the medicine cabinet.

You can bring your leftover meds to these locations:

Marion County Sheriff’s Office
Pella Police Department
Melcher-Dallas Police Department
Monroe Police Department
Warren County Sheriff’s Office

Collections will be taken on Saturday, October 27th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
