In a battle of area teams, the Pella Christian volleyball team took care of business last night defeating Pleasantville in straight sets in a class 2A regional semifinal game.

The Eagles dominated the first two sets winning 25-12 in both before a thrilling third set. The Trojans jumped out to a 9-4 lead when both teams traded blows the rest of the way and Pella Christian triumphed to a 27-25 victory. Head Coach of the Eagles John Evenhouse tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he really liked how his team came out firing.

“First two games we really served and hit well. Emma Dunsbergen came with all kind of energy. Pleasantville played well but we toughed it out in the end so that was good for us.”

Head Coach of the Trojans Joel Allman saw a lot of positives in that final set.

“Serve receive was good. That allowed us to run some offense and that put some pressure on Pella Christian. Our passing was much better in the final set.”

Pella Christian improves to 20-17 and advances to the regional final on Tuesday when they face off with Sidney in Creston. Pleasantville closed the year at 4-19.
