The last phase of the facility upgrades at the Indianola School District is nearing completion, after recent upgrades over the last several years to the baseball and tennis facilities, a new playground at Laura Ingalls Wilder Elementary School, asbestos abatement, a new heating system, and now the new school administration building.

Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News, the improvements were the result of a bond issue passed in 2014 and it shows the administration how much the community trusts the school district.

“We have a strong focus on continuous improvement. We want to get better at our jobs and serve students better, and it shows that our facilities are incredible. We are in a unique position where we are a class 4A school but still in a small town. I just feel like our school is in a place where we are living out our vision which is proud traditions, unlimited possibilities.”

Sathoff also said that the district is currently exploring the possibility of a partnership with the city to provide a school resource officer, though no official decisions have been made.
