Part two of the annual KNIA/KRLS Breast Cancer Awareness Radiothon was held at Pella Regional Health Center Tuesday.

Medical professionals and breast cancer survivors shared their stories in an effort to encourage women 40 and over to receive an annual mammogram to detect breast cancer early.

Dr. Rebecca Dykstra was among the speakers, and tells KNIA/KRLS News raising awareness of breast cancer screenings is important, as early detection is the biggest key in avoiding significant complications.

Medical Imaging Supervisor at Pella Regional Marliou Ozinga encourages Pella and Pella Christian fans to Paint the Stands pink this Friday. KNIA/KRLS, Pella Regional Health Center, Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, and Marion County Public Health partner together for two broadcasts in October to raise awareness of breast cancer screenings.
