Lake Red Rock is about to crest at its highest level ever in the month of October.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, waters will rise to approximately 770.4 feet above sea level by early next week, or roughly 28 feet above normal conservation pool. The current flooding event is the 10th highest crest on record, which is currently 769.96 feet in July 2015. It came after 5-7 inches of rain fell throughout most of central Iowa in the first half of the month.

This is also the highest the lake has ever been in the month of October, breaking the previous mark of 757.2 feet set on October 28th, 1986.
