Time is running out for those who wish to vote via absentee ballot in the November 5th election, but the Marion County Auditor’s Office will be giving voters every opportunity to get one.

Saturday, October 27th is the last day the office can mail out absentee ballots; state law puts the cutoff point at ten days before an election, and since this normally falls on a Saturday the state also requires county offices to be open then.

So Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia tells KNIA/KRLS News the office at the Marion County Courthouse is open the last Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

“October 27th is actually the last day we’re able to do that, so if you’re thinking about doing an absentee ballot through the mail we do need to receive that request by that October 27th deadline,” says Grandia.

It’s also the last day voters may go through the regular registration process prior to the election; afterwards, voters can still register right up to Election Day, either at the auditor’s office or at the polls.

The auditor’s office will also be open on November 3rd, the final Saturday before the general election.
